Every so often a shoot comes along that feels less like “work” and more like getting to spend a morning with a friend and the camera just happens to be along for the ride. Photographing the new branding images for Pink Lotus Acupuncture was exactly that kind of session and I’ve been wanting to share it here for a while. 🤍
If you’ve followed me for a bit, you’ll know I don’t just photograph newborns, bumps and cake- covered one-year-olds, I love working with local businesses too, helping them capture images that actually look and feel like them. So when my long-time friend Gabby, who runs Pink Lotus Acupuncture, told me she was rebuilding her website and needed a full set of new photos, there was no question I was picking up my camera for this one.
A friendship that goes back a long way
Gabby and I have known each other for years now, long before either of us were talking about websites or brand photography. In that time I’ve watched Pink Lotus grow from strength to strength, and Gabby become the calm, knowledgeable presence so many women turn to when they’re trying to conceive and just want someone in their corner who actually listens.
It’s a special thing to photograph someone you’ve known for that long, because there’s no awkward warm-up needed, we could just get straight into it and it meant every shot felt easy and true to who she is.
And it’s personal for me too. My own girls have been in Gabby’s hands for baby reflexology, so I’ve sat in that treatment room not as a photographer but as a mum, feeling exactly the sense of calm I was there to capture on camera. Knowing the space and the person from that side made this shoot feel even more like a labour of love. 💕
Branding Photography in Wilmslow
Gabby didn’t want stiff, overly-posed “corporate headshot” energy for her new site and honestly, that’s never really my style anyway. We wanted images that felt warm, grounded and genuinely her: natural light, soft and calming, with little glimpses of the clinic itself so visitors to the new website get a real feel for the space before they’ve even booked in.
We spent the morning moving through the clinic capturing:
- Relaxed, natural portraits of Gabby in her treatment room
- Quiet little details of the space, the kind of soft, calming corners that tell you exactly whatkind of experience awaits
- A few candid, in-the-moment shots that feel far more “her” than anything posed ever could
No forced smiles, no stiff hands-on-hips poses just Gabby, in her own space, doing what she does best. See my recent work here.
